Rep: “Call back to re apply if you loose your job or become pregnant.”

Rep : “You make to much money.”
Me: “I have proof of my household expenses”
Rep : “It does not matter, they don’t care what your living expenses are.”
Me : “Not even rent?”
Rep : “nope”
Representative from Metroplus.

Rep  “What program are you calling from?”
Me : ”excuse me?”
Rep : “Do you or have you ever had a substance abuse problem?’
Me : “No”
Rep : “Sorry we only give health care to people who come out of a substance abuse program”
Me : “Should I call you back if I become addicted to drugs?”
Representative from a division of Healthy NY Program.

These were the responses I got while Applying to get health care coverage, Unbelievable!!  Do they know that it is my tax dollars that funds these types of programs?  It is unimaginable to me that a middle class single woman can not get any health care assistance.  Why are women that have not had any children being punished.  This is just crazy.  I have never been so frustrated.  It seems to me that every time a turn around there is some program put in place that are actually designed to hold the low to moderate class down.  To keep them “where they belong.”  How is it that they expect change.
I consider myself to be of “middle” class in respective to the economy and I find this whole class to be in a box.  We are trapped.  You make to much to apply for any assistance and don’t make enough to get out of the Middle Bracket.  Our whole economic system is designed to keep the rich - rich, the poor - poor....
